Bear Ridge Speedway - July 17, 2010 Canaan Dirt Speedway - July 9, 2010
Mid-Season 2010 Championship Review! Where do you begin? Let's start with the 500's. While car counts have been a little sparse in 2010 the action has been hot. Larry Sheridan in his full time return to racing has had a season so far that some of us only dream of. Three wins and the point lead, Larry is squarely atop the 500 points pile. While he looks like a pretty good bet for the overall championship you can not rule out two time defending 500cc champ Lacey Hanson. Step for step, Lacey has been looming over Larry's shoulder like an approaching thunderstorm. Lacey has one win so far in 2010 and plenty of motivation to bring her championship winning experience to bear on Larry Sheridan. Back in third and with a mathematical chance at the 2010 top spot is Josh Boissoneau driving the Bob Woodside prepared sprinter. Josh has been on a tear of late with two wins in a row. Josh know how to get it done, can he close the 100 or so point gap to Larry and Lacey? Until race 5 we had no 500cc rookie comeptitors. Well, they're here now and making a race of it. Peter Belliveau is atop this race with Todd Buckwold and Brad Southworth in tow. This one could heat up as every race counts for these guys! Now to the track championships. There will be some drama here before it's over. With two races to go in each of the track championship battles the largest margin right now is only 7 points! Sheridan leads Bear Ridge and Big Daddy's with Hanson in command at Canaan. Troy Boissoneau is second at Big Daddy's with Hanson close behind. Keep an eye here as Sheridan and Hanson will be duking it out in these points battles as well as the overall championship. Don't count out the Boissoneau contingent as Troy's years of experience will keep him in the hunt. Now, how about those 600's. Wow, talk about a stellar first half of the season. The smallest field so far has been ten cars. We've had action packed racing in this division in every heat and feature race. The competition level has been outstanding. No one has had their way in this division since the first green flag fell. With four different winners in six races the parity is self evident. Some heavy hitters have gone winless so far in 2010 to the amazment of many. Wins this season belong to David Lowbed Johnson, Brian Gray, Matt Robie, and Luke Greenwood. 2010 has seen the return of former competitors Barry Coolen and David Lowbed Johnson. 2010 has also seen the biggest rookie class in years. With eight drivers vying for the Rookie of the Year honors this year there's going to be plenty of action in the second half of the season. Firmly atop the 600cc point battle is sophmore driver Johnny 'Lightning' Chesnut. With no wins in 2010, consistent top five finishes is showing Johnny's got it figured out. Many are saying it's only a matter of time before Johnny scores that first win. The margin back to second is 37 points to Terry Reil. Also winless in 2010, Reil has put together solid points runs to put himself in contention for a season ending battle for the championship. That is the largest margin in the 600's and from here back throw a blanket over them because the points are so close anything can happen. The Eldridge boys are having amazing rookie seasons. Currently 3rd and 4th in the points chase either of these guys could pull the upset and score the top prize. 5th, 6th, and 7th positions are also made up of rookies Doug McPhail, Tim Beard, and Jacob Williams. These guys have done an outstanding job in 2010. Doug McPhail should be called Mr Consistency as he's put together solid run after solid run. Tim Beard is clearly the hardest working guy we have. Running older equipment and juggling a plumbing business this guy has had to work for it. The remainder of the field is made up of more rookies and some heavy hitters. Josh and Troy Boissoneau missed the first two races of the season but are making their presence felt of late. Micahel Scott rounds out the top 10 in points. Michael has had some struggles in 2010 but is making progress every race. David Lowbed Johnson, after an early season tear with three heat wins, a feature win, and the early points lead everyone was wondering if there was any stopping him. Unfortunately, a back problem has sidelined Lowbed for a few races but he reports not for much longer. Rich Crooker, always a tough competitor has gone winless so far in 2010. This is not a reflection of Rich struggling but more so of the heightened competition level within the club in 2010. With six more races to go in 2010, odds are you can put Rich's name on at least one of them. David Morgan returned to the club after only a couple of appearances in 2009. With very high hopes for a succesful 2010 Dave's season started with two very bad crashes that ultimately sidelined his car. Good news is Dave will be back in action soon with his brand new 2010 Hyper! This will be good, watch for Dave to make up for lost time. Barry Coolen also returned to the club after a year off and suffered mechanical gremlins. We're in hopes to see Barry back again soon. With six points races left there will be plenty of action for the overall points championship. Don't turn the light out on this one yet, this race is far from over. As the weight of the coveted championship looms some drivers rise and some crumble. It's the next six that will define the 2010 season. Talk about rookies! What a field. No one is out of this yet. With Drew Eldridge atop the pile by 10 points over Derek Eldridge this is gonna get good. The race within the race is worth watching. Keep an eye on Doug McPhail, he's shown he knows how to get it done even when the car is struggling. Jacob Eldridge is about 100 points out but he's definitely one to watch. This kids fast and he knows how to driver. A couple of DNF's by anyone and this kid is back in it. 600cc track championships...you think the overall championships are close, take a look here. Three different drivers are leading each track. Luke Greenwood at Canaan, Johnny Chesnut at Bear Ridge, and Brian Gray at Big Daddy's. Each of these championships has at least five drivers in contention for the top prize. Watch for drivers that are out of the overall to pour it on for the track championships. These races are gonna get good. Week after week these just get better and closer. With two races left at each track I don't know where to place my bet! I will tell you, keep an eye on Johnny Chesnut, he's in the top three at all three tracks he could pull the sweep. The club is very thankful for the season we've had so far. We wish to thank all the competitors, fans, tracks, and you for your support in 2010. Stay tuned for the second half, the excitements only just begun as points battles start to weigh on the drivers. See you at a track very soon! The Club wishes Harvey Kage and son a speedy recovery. Harvey is a former 600 cc competitor with the club. Get well soon Harvey! Next Event: Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Big Daddy's Speedbowl in Rumney, NH, post time 4 pm. Can anyone stop Larry Sheridan in the 500's? Larry has two wins in a row in his full-time return to the club with two time defending 500 cc champ Lacey Hanson hot on his heels. Returning 600 cc competitor David Lowbed Johnson has made his presence felt with two heat race wins, a feature win, and the points lead. Sophmore sensation Johnny 'Lightning' Chestnut is giving Lowbed a run but needs to crank it up a whisker to get the job done. Veteran competitor Dave Morgan has had a bittersweet start to the season, a very fast car, a heat race win at Bear Ridge, but two DNF's in the features. Will Dave's luck change at the Rumney high banks? Brian Gray also battling gremlins lost his engine in practice at Canaan's pre-race practice. Derek Eldridge can't seem to shake the curse of the chain and sprockets with another broken chain and chain guard. Absent from competition so far in 2010 is three time defending 600 cc champ Matt Robie. Rumor has it he'll make his return Sunday at Rumney. In addition, the Boissoneau contingent has been no where to be seen so far in 2010. Actually Troy and Josh have been in the pits helping all competitors so far. With any luck these cars will be in the field Sunday night. What a field of 600 rookies we have in 2010. The Eldridge boys, Drew and Derek moved up from the 500 class. Tim Beard from go-cart fame, Doug McPhail former Rumney weekly competitor, Jacob Williams, and Michael Scott. Come on out and see the club Sunday at Big Daddy's Speedbowl! We'd love to see you! THANK YOU BOARDMEMBERS & MEMBERS AT LARGE I would like to take the opportunity prior to the season beginning to thank each and every boardmember and member at large for their hard work and dedication over the winter. They are Dean Hanson, Annie Boissoneau, Lacey Hanson, Troy Boissoneau, Derek Eldridge, Larry Sheridan, Zach Herbert, Mike Bubnis, Matt Robie and Josh Boissoneau. This group held eight meetings over the winter to put together what I hope is one of the best seasons in GSMSRC history. Without their tireless work and commitment we would be scrambling right now to make things happen. Thank you all very much, your participation is greatly appreciated!
Hello Competitors, My name is Troy Boissoneau, the Head of Tech for the 2010 season. I just want to provide a friendly reminder to check out the newly revised rule book to make sure your car and equipment comply with the rules. A few items have changed since last year, which are outlined in the GSMSRC Rulebook Revision Summary Feb 2010. You can find this summary on the Club website Rules tab. Here are some basic things to check: Nuts & bolts, wheel bearings, steering, radios, seat belt dates, car numbers, weight, brakes, fuel shut off marked (Off/On), kill switch marked (Off/On), helmet, fire suit, hood sock, gloves, shoes, etc. We will be conducting tech inspections at the track car show and practice days. This is a great opportunity to make sure everything with your car and safety gear is up to snuff. The first race is no time to find out you have items to work on with your car. Please make sure you all take a look at the rule book and start looking things over. If anybody has any questions please do not hesitate to email or call me, I would be glad to help you make things easier or smoother. The first race is a lot more fun when cars can show up ready to battle it out. I cannot wait to see everybody this year, especially some new faces. Now everyone get to work because the warm weather is here and it will not be long before we hit the track! Thank You, Troy Boissoneau C: 603-714-4445 H: 603-472-3651 Email: Racingfamily09@comcast.net

Board Meeting Update - February 20, 2010 - White River Jct., VT
I-30 Speedway Kicks Off 2010 with Fourth Annual 600 Nationals! Lonnie Wheatley, LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (February 25, 2010) – Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway closed out the 2009 season in top style with another rousing rendition of the ever popular Short Track Nationals featuring the Lucas Oil Sprint Cars. Now, thanks to a curve ball hurled by Mother Nature last September, the high-banked I-30 Speedway will kick off its 2010 campaign with another high profile event in the form of the Fourth Annual 600 Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires on March 11-13. Originally scheduled for last September 17-19 only to be postponed by torrential Arkansas rains, one hundred or so of the nation’s top 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint teams will converge upon Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway in just two weeks to vie for the $8,000 winner’s share with each of the Saturday night feature starters collecting a minimum of $500. The weekend also includes the Third Annual Landers Harley-Davidson $1,000-to-win Horizon Mini Sprint Nationals. Following a Test N' Tune session on Wednesday night, March 10, two full nights of preliminary competition rather than the one night of previous years will lead into Saturday night's 600 Nationals championship finale. Originally posted as a $7,500 to win event, an extra $500 was added to the top spot courtesy of K&W Truck Repair in Searcy, AR. All entries may compete on either of the qualifying nights or both of the qualifying nights, with the top four from each qualifying night main event locked into Saturday night's Pole Dash, which sets the starting grid for the front four rows of the championship finale. All others outside the top four on each qualifying night will battle through a full card of heats and qualifiers to set the balance of Saturday night's main event lineup. All non-qualifiers will collect $275 on Saturday night. All paid entries from the originally scheduled September event will be honored with new entries accepted for just $150 until March 10. Entries submitted after March 10 will be $250. The weekend also includes the Third Annual Landers Harley Davidson Horizon Mini-Sprint Nationals. The Horizon Mini-Sprints take to the track on both Friday and Saturday, with Friday's top six finishers locked into Saturday night's $1,000-to-win main event. After topping the inaugural version of the event in 2006, Osceola's Travis Senter, Jr., defended his home-state turf for the second time in three tries by besting a field of 110 entries in 2008. Jerrod Wilson took the winner's loot across state lines to Oklahoma in 2007. NOTICE - RULE ADDITION Raceivers (one-way radios) will be required for the 2010 season. We need to get an idea of how many people will need a radio so we may pursue a club quantity discount with an area dealer. Please let Terry know ASAP by e-mail or phone.>

Lacey Hanson, VT Motorsports Magazine Driver of the Year Contender 2009 25th Anniversary Championship Banquet – October 24, 2009 Under very precipitous skies the GSMSRC held their annual Championship Banquet. This wasn’t just any banquet though, repeat champions were about to be crowned, and it just happened to be the 25th Anniversary of the Granite State Mini Sprints Racing Club. With an excellent turn out Club President Troy Boissoneau opened the evening with a reflection of the club back to its founding members. As luck would have it, four of the original seven club members and founders were in attendance for the banquet. Each would take their turn reciting some club history, how the club started, the cars, and of course some very interesting stories. Overall their vision 25 years ago and their message at the banquet was very timely, the club was started to have fun, keep it fun, promote the club, keep the costs down, and go racing! These are guys and names that will live on forever in the club and the club’s history, great job guys! They are: Ken LaPointe, Dave Allen, Lenny West, and Dave Feathers. In addition, there was a beautiful display of photos of the club and its members back in the day when this group was turning the wheel. On to the current members, the evening next moved to presenting season trophies to the top ten in the 500 cc division. This field was marked with many new drivers and a ton of exciting racing all season long. Each member of this group should be very proud of their accomplishments. Week in and week out these guys put on great shows. The 500 cc championship trophy was presented to Lacey Hanson. This one was a little more special though as this was Lacey’s 2nd championship in a row! It has been many years since this has happened. Great job Lacey! We look forward to seeing you defend this championship again in 2010. The 600 cc gang was up next. Again a very good group of drivers. Often times in 2009 we were short of cars but these guys didn’t disappoint. 2009 provided some of the most thrilling action in this division in a long time. Trophies were presented to the top ten drivers culminating in the presentation of the championship trophy. This with no doubt would be a very special moment. Matt Robie is not only our 2009 champion; he is now a three time champion and a three championships in a row champion! This is quite an accomplishment that deserves all the accolades. What can we say Matt, simply awesome! Our 2009 Rookies of the Year are a couple of hard charging standouts that most definitely will make their presence known even more in 2010. Our 2009 500 cc division Rookie of the Year is Zach Herbert. When you think of the term, “working it” Zach comes to mind. This guy worked every angle, prepared his equipment to perform every week and just plain got it done. Zach offered up a very nice thank you to his Dad, none of us can get it done without support from home! Great season Zach. Coming out of the 500 cc division our 2009 600 cc division Rookie of Year, John Chestnut could definitely be called Johnny Lightning! Hoping into a 600 was a little rocky at the start, with a mid season break that didn’t dampen his spirits, this kid figured it our quickly with a couple of near wins. Look for him in 2010 to be a force to be reckoned with. Nice job Johnny! Next in line was the GSMSRC’s Spirit Award. This award is presented to the individual who promotes what the club is all about. This year’s winner Troy Boissoneau is without a doubt a shoe in for this award. Troy has spent many years in many capacities with this club, working the daily grind behind the scenes to make it all possible. Troy, congratulations, well done. Lastly was the GSMSRC Sportsman of the Year Award. This year’s award went to Terry Reil in the 600 cc division. That concluded the 25th Anniversary Championship Banquet. Great season by all! We expect great things in 2010. Hope to see you all there along with any new competitors or club members.
2010 GSMSRC GENERAL MEETING – October 25, 2009 The 2010 meeting began with the Treasurer’s report. Troy Boissoneau spent a few moments thanking the club and its members for allowing him to serve as their President. Next up, 2010 Board of Directors elections. There were no contested positions so quick vote installed the 2010 Board, which is as follows: Terry Reil, President Dean Hanson, Vice President Lacey Hanson, Secretary Annie Boissoneau, Treasurer Troy Boissoneau, Head of Teach Derek Eldridge, Communications Mike Bubnis, Member at Large Larry Sheridan, Member at Large Matt Robie, Member at Large Josh Boissoneau, Member at Large Zach Herbert, Member at Large A new board position was created called the Communications Officer. This position will facilitate all club communications and promotion. As you can see from above Derek Eldridge will be the first officer in this position. Diane Howes suggested reinstating the annual Fun Day and adding the Dare event to our schedule. The consensus of the group was to do this. Great idea Diane. We will have a rulebook review committee lead by Dean Hanson to review the rulebook for necessary updates, safety issues, etc. A draft of changes will be presented at the next board meeting. Troy Boissoneau, Derek & Drew Eldridge will also participate on this committee. We discussed many items that had been tabled at the last board meeting. Included in that group were raceivers (scanners), repeal of the on board adjusters rule, and 50” rear axle tread widths. We are going to research raceivers more before making a decision. Jordan Eldridge and Mike Bubnis are working on this. The remaining items were left unchanged. The group approved a 12 race, 2 rain dates, and 1 drop race schedule for next season. Most felt this schedule worked very well in 2009 so we should stick with it. There were some suggestions to add some special races to give us more opportunities to race throughout the year. Lastly, we talked about creating a club promotional committee. Anyone interested in this should contact Derek Eldridge or Terry Reil. The next board meeting will be held December 5th, 10 am, at White River Jct., VT.
