Granite State Mini Sprints stopped at Canaan Speedway on Friday
June 20th under threatening sky once again.
500 h eat kicked off the night; Josh B jumped into the lead and
never gave it up with Lacey H and Mike W. battling for second
and third place. The 500’s finished with Josh B first, Lacey H
second, Mike W third, John C fourth and Kreager G had mechanical
problems that side lined him for the night. The Cantrell’s fell
victims to mechanical problems even before practice they were
also side lined for the evening.
The 600’s had enough cars to have two heats on Friday night, in
the “A” heat John M was running hard and fast with a lead on
Richard C till the yellow came out. Richard C was on the outside
for the restart and when they got the green Richard drove it a
little deeper into turn one to take the lead and the win with
John M second, Don C third, Trevor H dropping out with
mechanical problems in the fourth place and Christine B fell to
the gremlins as well being side lined before the heats. In the
“B” heat when you watched the leader it was like watching a
monorail car at Disney World Dave M was stuck to the track like
glue and lead it till the end, behind him there was some great
racing back and forth between Matt R, Josh B, Larry S and Bob G
finishing in fifth.
The 500 feature saw Mike W run hard up front to lead Lacey and
Josh for most of the race. Mike also get’s bit by the mechanical
bug and blows his motor, Lacey who was battling with Josh took
over the lead and finished in the top stop with Josh in second,
John C in his third race takes home third and Bob W who could
not make the heat race also fell out of the feature putting him
in the fourth spot.
The 600’s took to the surface and put on a great show from front
to back. There were lead changes, three abreast in the corners,
in the straight-aways passing everywhere, John M had the lead
first the heavy racing was between Matt R and Dave M, while
another group with action was Josh B, Bob G and Larry S while
Rich C was focused on John M he finally caught John and passed
him for the lead and held on for the victory. John, Dave and
Josh all slid high in turn four to bring out the yellow, John
had to leave with left front damage. In the end after all the
excitement, Rich C took first following behind him was Matt R,
Josh B, Bob G, Larry S, Don C, Dave M and John M rounding up the
group in eight place.
Next week we will be at Legion Speedway in Rumney NH hope to see
more faces because the action is definitely heating up.
